Dallas! Unknown Mortal Orchestra are coming back to the Granada Theater, their first time back since 2012! Unknown Mortal Orchestra is a New Zealand based psychedelic rock band, fresh off the release of their new album Sex & Food, which came out April of this year. The band is made up of front-man Ruban Nielson, along with Jacob Portrait, and Quincy McCrary. They have since moved base from New Zealand to Portland, Oregon.
Sex & Food marks Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s fourth studio album. Billboard.com calls it UMO’s “most boldly eclectic LP to date.” The album was recorded over a vast distance of locations, including Seoul, Hanoi, Reykjavik, Mexico City, and Auckland. UMO started on this album in 2016, originally to be more post-punk than it ended up. As they traveled the world though, new inspirations came, and events, like being trapped in Central Mexico during an earthquake, brought new direction to the album.
We are so excited to finally hear the new sounds of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, July 14th at our historic Granada Theater! If you haven’t gotten your tickets already, grab them now before you miss this incredible show!
