On Thursday, August 31st Granada Theater is hosting a very special charity event with the smooth, soul sounds of Marc Broussard, as well as music by Astronautalis and Pedigo’s Magic Pilsner.
Marc Broussard never fails to wow Dallas with his big voice, big heart, and contemplative lyrics. A second generation New Orleans bluesman, Broussard has just the right mix of classic R&B and soul, but with a contemporary twist. For him, his songs are a direct line to his Cajun heritage, “a gritty story.”
“And that’s pretty much what south Louisiana is,” he says, “it’s just the dirt and the grit and a vibe that you can’t find anywhere else.”
Astronautalis will also be performing, whose hip-hop roots mix with shoegaze-laced indie rock, swampy Southern-influenced blues, and more for a sound that can’t be defined by one genre, but rather transcends several to for a unique sonic storytelling.
All guests are welcome to enjoy the after-party at Sundown, where Dallas supergroup Bastards of Soul will be rounding out the evening with a night of pure rock & roll.
This concert benefits three great charities doing wonderful things for mental health in North Texas. Galaxy Counseling Center takes a holistic approach to mental health services. Jonathan’s Place is a program dedicated to providing safe homes and specialized services to neglected and abused children. Suicide & Crisis Center of North Texas is committed to removing the stigma surrounding mental health and helping people in their most severe state of crisis.
