Eight years is a long time. Just think to where your life was eight years ago. That was when I first interviewed with Mike Schoder & Nate Binford for a marketing position at the Granada Theater. I was hired and started in April of 2007. Now this was back when TO was the Cowboys leading receiver, MySpace was still a viable social media website, and everyone was all about M.I.A. & Justice. It was a different time back then and now after 8 wonderful years, thousands of cookies, jack & cokes, and puppy videos; it’s time for me to peace out.

Here’s the short of it. Working for the Granada Theater has been the best experience of my life. Sure I’ve been lucky enough to work on and see many, many incredible bands. But what will stay with me is all the friends that I made (shout out Taco Team) and the valuable lessons that I’ve learned (stretching is for exercise, not Photoshop).  I found my voice & self-confidence while at Granada. I guess you could say that I came into my own during these eight years. And that would not have been possible without the amazing people that I worked with.

Working together on huge shows like Gorilla vs Bear Fest, two nights of M83 and soo0o0oo many more. And of course fun events like Cliques & Flicks, Breaking Bad watch parties, and The xx Dating Game (just to name a few) was a thrill. This life is all about other people and I am thankful that I was able to meet & work with ones who are super talented, real funny, smart (but not afraid to be stupid at times), and most of all, FUN. A huge thanks to the following for making these last 8 years the best of my life.

To owners Mike Schoder & Julia Garton, thank you for the opportunity, the memories and letting me play in your sandbox. I had the great pleasure of working with awesome folks in the promo office over the years. I’m looking at you Gavin Mulloy, Trang Nguyen, Joe Overman, Ryan Henry, Garrett Zuhowski, Rachel Stas, Morie Taberna, Sydney Cannon, Dalena Robb. Alex LaBarba, Amanda Williams, Kylee Kimosh, Nate Binford, Kimberly Jones, Jency Keeton, Helen Eaton, Youmans, Mike Schwedler, Heath Gage, Tobi, Julie Garcia, & MVP Cody Lee.  Our awesome interns past & present Jennifer Vue, Rachel Spray, Mel Gonzales, Brooke Adams, Karen Carillo, James Schlecte, Nikki Stephens, Courtenay Paris, Eric Martinez, Christy Parrott, Tabitha, Cam Trevino, Matt MacDonald, Jeremy Hughes, Lauren Attiah, Mattie Hamilton, Liz Meyer, Logan, Steph, Danielle, Kelsey, Rene Jimenez, VV, Killer Mike’s BFF Shahryar, Paul, & Colby Cerventes. Shout out to the venue guys that I’ve known over the years. You all are the reason Granada is so successful. Managers Tim & Gee and backstage crew Wes, Andrew, Matt and Bill Ellison. Serenity bros Adam, Drew, Joe, Mouton, Josh, Cory, Crunchy, Cranberry, & Asher. And the bartenders Sawyer, Becca, Rhonda, April, Brian, Scotty, Johnny and Raj.  Special shout out to Jeff Nelson, Schober, Butta B & Cutta C, Freebirds, Society Bakery crew and the popsicle truck.

The Granada Theater is a magical place. I know that sounds corny & cheesy, but I believe it. It is my favorite music venue and there is no other place that I would rather see a show. There are a lot of stories in that room and that’s what makes it so special. We live in an awesome town. Keep supporting, keep dancing and I’ll see you at a show. Later BBs. Much love to you all.
