Granada is going Totally 80s! Next Saturday Le Cure (The Cure tribute) and Panic (The Smiths tribute) will be dropping all kinds of goth rock tunes on our stage next Saturday, July 25. To celebrate, I’ve made a mini-playlist of five Cure covers that’ll leave you buggin’.
1. Deftones: If Only Tonight
This cover is so early 2000s goth; the hair, the fashion, and the audience say it all.
2. Cassettes Won’t Listen: Let’s Go To Bed
Cassettes Won’t Listen somehow manage to be ridiculously upbeat and downright mellow at the same time (and it works so well).
3. Why?: Close To Me
Why? took the synthesized aspects of the original Cure song and gave it an instrumental backing that is beyond ace.
4. Adele: Lovesong
Adele took this song and made it completely her own, (hopefully) bringing the Cure to a whole new generation of music listeners.
5. Scars On 45: Friday I’m In Love
Scars On 45 took full advantage of their vocal power and turned this track into an acoustic lullaby.
Now, you’re fully prepared for Totally 80s! Make sure to pick up your tickets here and brush up on your 80s slang.
Later days and better lays!
