It’s not often that a singer-songwriter can translate their personal experiences into well-crafted songs, how Rachael Yamagata can do this allows us to say she has a way with words. Yamagata’s pop ballads bring us back to Bonnie Raitt or Carole King – some are laments of lost love, genuine “”troubadour of heartbreak” songs that resonate with anyone who’s been run over by love.”
If the pain is attributed by heartbreak, Yamagata’s songs are one’s emotional outlet. Yamagata has also collaborated with familiar names such as Jason Mraz, Rhett Miller, Bright Eyes, Ryan Adams, and Ray Lamontagne. If what doesn’t kill you truly makes you stronger, perhaps this is where the singer-songwriter finds her strengths: retaining “her poise, confiding her vulnerability with an endearing openness and lyrical grace.”
Rachael Yamagata will be opening for Joshua Radin on March 14th. Tickets are available here.
