If you haven’t heard of Baraboo, WI, it is a circus town, home of the Ringling Brothers. A town with history full of creative whimsy, Phox grew up with plenty of inspiration to build their creative slate.
The folk-pop sextet recorded their self-titled album at Bon Iver’s April Base Studios in Eau Claire, WI.
Their hit single “Slow Motion” will have you whistling and clapping along instantaneously as if you have heard it for years. Lead singer Monica Martin’s voice fluctuates impulsively like Feist and Regina Spektor. Paired with the banjo, clarinet, and contagious whistling, you won’t be able to, or want to get Phox’s sound out of your head.
Being a Wisconsin native I am exceptionally thrilled to see Phox open for Paolo Nutini at Granada Theater on Thursday, October 2nd.
The show is close to selling out so get your tickets now, right here.
Check out some of Phox’s music now. Scroll down. Yep! Right there.
My favorite “Kingfisher”.
