Well, the time has come. This is my last day at the Granada and I must say, it’s been a ride. I didn’t really know what to expect on my first day of work just three months ago, but what I found was some of the friendliest, helpful coworkers I could ever ask for. I’m incredibly gracious for my time here and will sorely miss this place as I go back to University of Arkansas for my final year. So, as my time wears thin, here are my top 3 tips everyone should know about the Granada Theater.
1. Get there early!
Granada shows always have amazing openers! One of my favorite things about the openers is that they are often from the Dallas area and are just as pumped to be there as you are. Even if you haven’t heard of the opener playing before the big act, know that whatever it is, you’ll enjoy it. They might even become one of your new favorite bands. That’s exactly how I got into Sylvan Esso!
2. Sign up for the FREE pictures!
Every time you come into our theater for a show, there are paper sign-ups right when you enter the doors for free, professional photos from our house photographer! All it requires is your email (which we never use for any other purposes) and you’ll get multiple photos from your show in no time!
EXTRA TIP: As the one who went through these sheets each week and put the emails into our database, I highly encourage you to write your email as neat as possible. I feel so bummed when I have to skip someone on the list because I can’t make out their email. Just take your time! It’s worth the extra five seconds it takes to write legibly to get free photos from the show.
3. Go to the free events!
Granada has multiple free events each month, such as this summer’s Summer Mockbusters, which shows incredible 90’s movies with a live Twitter feed running during the whole movie, insuring that everyone in the theater hears your joke. These events have been hilarious so far, and the crowds are getting bigger and bigger. Plus, you’ll have cool opportunities to win FREE SHOWS by coming. Be sure to check out this week’s Mockbuster – Armageddon on August 9th.
So there you have it, my top 3 tips. It kills me that I have to leave so soon, with shows like Washed Out, Gorilla vs. Bear IV, and Black Lips coming up. It’s been such an honor to work with such a historical music venue and I know the Granada will always have a piece of my heart.
