Almost a year ago, we did the unthinkable: squeezing various bachelors and bachelorettes together on the Sundown at Granada rooftop and putting our Cupid costumes on to match these guys and gals up with potentially the people of their dreams. All in good spirit, we knew The xx would provide the perfect Valentine’s Day date, so when we saw this opportunity, we said: “why not?” In light of Valentine’s Day this week, we decided to catch up with a few of the participants of the Dating Game last year about their experience.

If you missed part one with Matt and Rachel, or Erin and Jeremy, you can head on over here and here to read their thoughts on the game.

BACHELOR: BEN BEHRENS
What did you expect going into the dating game?
I expected to meet a new friend, with a common interest, not just in the XX, but in similar artists & the emerging music scene as well. I did have in the back of my mind, that we might go on another date. The XX being involved was symbolic to me and I loved their music. I also expected some heckling from the crowd & was nervous about that.

What were some of your favorite or most memorable questions during the game?
“What would you change the national past time too (like to change it from baseball)?”
“What is your favorite song by the XX?”
“If you were an animal, what would you be?”

Was there a specific answer that made you pick that particular person? If so, what was it?
Her answer to the national past time question; she said she would make it ecstatic dance & there might have been a light show mentioned.

Thanks for taking a risk like that. Do you consider yourself a bold person, or was this out of character for you?
No, I’m not usually bold & can be shy, but I have my moments. Yet, I thought the concept was cool & in line with something I was totally up for.

Overall, how did the date go?
We had a good time overall. We seemed to have some shared interests that we discovered while hanging out at Sundown and explored each other’s backgrounds a bit. I was somewhat confused by the length of the set that the XX played. I expected more material & I think I was a bit weirded out when it suddenly ended. Or maybe it was just the wine? Or was it I wanted to listen to the XX for eternity with my date?

What song best describes your date with the contestant?
Kodaline – “High Hopes”

How has the dating game affected your view of blind dates? Would you ever do another?
I think they may be a reliable tool & can be quite fun, especially to watch from the audience perspective. The attractiveness of one’s answers can match up with the attractiveness of one’s physical attributes. The best part was recognizing how well her answers to the questions, matched up with how HOT she is. Yeah, I’d be up for another.

SUITOR: MORGAN CHADWICK
What did you expect going into the dating game?
I expected to be entertained & meet some new people, maybe win concert tickets.

What were some of your favorite questions that were asked during the game?
“Tell me our future relationship like it was a weather report.”

Thanks for taking a risk like that. Do you consider yourself a bold person, or was this out of character for you?
This is totally something I’d do.

Has this experience changed the way you listen to The xx?
I like them even more after seeing them live!

Overall, how did the date go?
I had a lot of fun! My date Ben was really nice.

What historical event is most like the date you went on?
Boston tea party// sunk to the ocean floor

How has the dating game affected your view of blind dates? Would you ever do another?
I would do it again. The whole experience through the Granada was really fun.

If your date were a beverage (alcoholic or not), what would it be?
He would b a cosmo (kinda fruity ;))

BACHELORETTE: KELLY HANRAHAN
What did you expect going into the dating game?
I had no idea what to expect! I was hoping for a good time and to meet some fun new people. It definitely did not disappoint.

What were some of your favorite or most memorable questions during the game?
My favorite question was when I asked the contestants to sing to me. One of the guys sang “I’ll Make Love to You” in its entirety.

Was there a specific answer that made you pick the contestant? If so, what was it?
The contestant that I chose said his favorite band was Geographer – also one of mine, and then when asked to sing, chose a song with no words and managed to beat box/hum his way through it. I found that pretty impressive.

Overall, how did the date go? What was the most awkward part of the date? Most fun part?
We didn’t actually go on a formal date – we ended up meeting up at The xx concert and had a great time. I still run into him at concerts on occasion.

Was it worth it? Do you ever wish you’d chosen a different contestant?
Absolutely! The contestant I chose is a great guy. No regrets.

Has this experience changed the way you listen to The xx?
The xx was always a band that I enjoyed, but now I have so many more memories attached to it. The whole experience was fantastic.

On a scale from Steve Urkel to Stefan Urquelle, how would you rate your contestant? How do you think they’d rate you?
I’d describe him as more of a Zach Braff. Not exactly the guy that commands a room, but once you get to know him he has a lot to say and is quite the character. I think he was surprised by me – I look like a typical Dallas girl but have a very eclectic taste in music.

That day still goes into our books as one of our favorite days of 2013. Here’s us wishing you a Happy Valentine’s Day and until next time..
