Brisbane, Australia natives Dead Letter Circus have yet to fall short of impressive since their debut album This Is Warning. Dead Letter Circus have been met with critcal acclaim from various alt-rock music bloggers. Some critics have gone so far to compare the band to bands of the likes of, The Mars Volta and Circa Survive. While the band is noted for being compared to other hard rock bands, their influences don’t stop there. Dead Letter Circus has noted electronic artists such as Massive Attack, Nine Inch Nails, and UNKLE for there diverse style of alternative rock. The band, however, acknowledges that “while we don’t sound like a mash up of these bands, they have all definitely infused our minds with a love for writing epic, layered and high energy songs.”

On the bands debut, “This Is Warning,” the sound of  is more than just a singular representation. They certainly play rock, but it’s…. different. The music is so heavily laden with delay and other effects that it decidedly veers out of conventional rock territory, becoming something much more epic and well, big-sounding. However, they still retain a catchiness with each track.

Dead Letter Circus has shared the stage with big name acts such as, Muse and Linkin Park. This Friday, Dead Letter Circus will be opening for Fair to Midland and this is a band you will not want to miss. Get there early, grab a drink or one of our great tacos and snag a good spot for Dead Letter Circus and Fair To Midland.

Also, opening up the night will be local Granada Theater favorites, the New Magnetic North. The New Magnetic North, led by front man Tim Ziegler are one of the best hard rock bands to come out of Dallas in years. Tim’s thrashing vocals accompanied by shredding guitars and pounding double bass kicks make this band a certified face-melter. And my face melting standards are pretty high. The band has had the opportunity to share the stage with big name acts like Mastodon and Soundgarden at this years Freaker’s Ball. If you haven’t had a chance to catch the New Magnetic North, then you should plan on getting to the Granada Theater even earlier.

Fair To Midland {11:30 pm}
