If you just don’t have enough folk goodness in your life right now, hit up the Winspear Opera House to see everyone’s favorite country and bluegrass darling Emmy Lou Harris on June 23.
After releasing her latest album, Hard Bargain, the 12-time Grammy winner is on her way back to Dallas with her Red Dirt Boys. As a tribute to Harris’ mentors and ancestors, Hard Bargain is driven by guest vocalists and friends of the 2008 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee.
For more live Americana this summer, enjoy the tunes of Harris’ former Australian supporting act Kasey Chambers at the Granada on July 16. You may have seen Chambers open for Lucinda Williams in 2001, or watched the two pair up for an episode of PBS’ Soundstage in 2003. That year Chambers also provided a soulful rendition of Dolly Parton’s ‘Little Sparrow’ on her tribute album Just Because I’m a Woman upon invitation from the queen of country herself.
Don’t forget to show up early for Chambers’ Austin-based opening act The Trishas as well, and plant your country roots at the bar while getting your fill of the best fiddles and tastiest vittles in Dallas.
