The 1960’s saw famous duos such as Sonny & Cher, Ike & Tina, Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood, Johnny Cash & June Carter, and a myriad more, resulting in a “golden decade” of musical collaborations between two of the opposite sex. A resurgence of guy/girl duos have surfaced in music over the past decade or so, showcasing such groups as The White Stripes, The Dresden Dolls, Mates of State, The Knife, The Swell Season, She & Him, Beach House, Jenny & Johnny, Matt & Kim, and many, many more. As with romance, the dynamics of a guy/girl group can be a delicate collaboration, but can result in a beautiful end product when correctly coupled voices, instruments, and emotions intertwine (see: The Civil Wars).
Granada Theater is hosting several shows for guy/girl duos this month, respectively. Check out their videos below and come by to see them blush at each other on stage!
